Welcome to the Music ofLisa FrancoI met Lisa Franco the first time at the club Madame Wong's in Santa Monica, California. A friend of mine and I had heard about this group, actually hard rock, with a very unusual instrument, a harp. Another friend who knew one band member let us know when and where the group would play, and so we went there one cold and windy night. Oops - we are in California - so it was probably hot and muggy, but cold and windy would have been more poetic. The name of the group was 'Bigger than Blue' and the music was exceptional. And this tall, dark haired woman on the harp was impressive. After the gig I introduced myself and soon we got to know each other and it was not long and we became very good friends for many years now. Unfortunately this band did not carry on, but the name lives on in the debut album of Lisa that came out some two years later. The music on this album is very different from the music of the group 'Bigger than Blue'. In quick succession three more albums followed from the same European label. Some are available in stores in the US, but we'll feature them all here.
